You can apply for full-time, part-time, or online study.
Programmes lead to Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees.

Meet the Admission Requirements
General Requirements
Applicants must have at least five credits including English Language from WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or TC11.
Credits must come from one or two sittings depending on the department.

Postgraduate Diploma Requirements
- Graduates with a first degree and a final CGPA of 1.51 and above on a 5-point scale can apply.
- Graduates from Polytechnics or Monotechnics with a Higher National Diploma with at least a Lower Credit can also apply.
Master’s Degree Requirements
- Graduates with a degree in a related field and a final CGPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale or 45% for universities without CGPA grading are accepted.
- Holders of Postgraduate Diplomas with a final CGPA of 3.00 and above on a 5-point scale are accepted.
MPhil/PhD Requirements
- Graduates with a Master’s Degree and a CGPA between 3.00 and 3.49 on a 5-point scale can apply.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Requirements
- Graduates with a Master’s Degree in a related field and a CGPA of 3.50 and above on a 5-point scale or a minimum of 60% for universities without CGPA grading can apply.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
- Full-time study runs for a minimum of 2 semesters and a maximum of 3 semesters.
- Part-time study runs for a minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters.
PGD in Engineering
- Full-time study runs for a minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters.
- Part-time study runs for a minimum of 6 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters.
Master’s Degree
- Full-time study runs for a minimum of 3 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters.
- Part-time study runs for a minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters.
MPhil/PhD
- Full-time study runs for a minimum of 2 semesters and a maximum of 3 semesters.
- Part-time study runs for a minimum of 3 semesters and a maximum of 4 semesters.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Full-time study runs for a minimum of 6 semesters and a maximum of 10 semesters.
- Part-time study runs for a minimum of 8 semesters and a maximum of 14 semesters.

- Complete the form online at Nnamdi Azikiwe University postgraduate application portal.
- Fill all fields with correct information and submit.
- Check your email for a validation link and an application number.
- Click the link to activate your account and note your application number.
- Log in with your application number and email address.
- Confirm your details and pay the application fee through Credo for local students or Paystack for international students.
- Complete your application step-by-step after payment.
- Check your email for a payment confirmation.
- Submit the final form and print your completed Application Form and Transcript Request Form.
- Send the Transcript Request Form to your former institution.
- Any name change should be shown clearly in the transcript form.

Know the Application Timeline
- Sale of forms starts on 5 January 2025.
- Sale of forms ends on 29 August 2025.
- Submission of forms closes on 5 September 2025 for online, full-time, and part-time programmes.
- Transcripts should reach the Secretary, College of Postgraduate Studies, by 5 September 2025.
- Soft copies of transcripts must be sent to College of Postgraduate Studies transcript email from official institutional emails only.
Submit a Research Proposal for PhD Applicants
PhD applicants must upload a short proposal of no more than five pages.
The proposal must include:
- Name of Applicant
- Proposed Department and Faculty
- Research Topic (maximum of 18 words)
- Short Background of the Study
- Aim and Objectives
- Methodology
- Expected Outcomes
- References
